Belize

The Jewel of Central America
GTFlyfishing is very proud to present our latest and perhaps finest destination.

It is now possible to experience completely untouched and perhaps a few unfished areas, at this amazing destination in one of the most beautiful countries in Central America, Belize, formerly known as British Honduras, is a Caribbean country located on the northeastern coast of Central America. Belize is bordered on the north by Mexico, on the east by the Caribbean Sea, and on the south and west by Guatemala. It has an area of 22,970 square kilometres and a population around 420,000 inhabitant. Its mainland is about 290 km long and 110 km wide. It has the lowest population and population density in Central America.

Endless beauty.

Belize’s abundance of terrestrial and marine species and its diversity of ecosystems gives it a key place in the significant Mesoamerican Biological Corrido, The area acts as a natural land bridge from South America to North America, which is important for species who use the bridge in migration. Due to the extensive and unique habitat types, the Mesoamerican contains somewhere between 7 and 10% of the world’s known species, Belize is truly a unique and unforgettable experience

There are only a few places left in the world, unharmed by tourism’s and overfishing, the area which we will discover is located on the Placencia Peninsula, and the areas are sparsely populated with not much more than small fishing villages, a true fly fishing paradise. In this area it is primarily Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon we are searching for, with a reasonable chance of a Grand Slam.

Perfect sceneries.

Placencia is surrounded by the most amazing untouched mangrove forests which is teeming with all kinds of wonderful wild life and of course big Tarpons. We will explore uninhabited islands and we will be sigt fishing for tailing Bonefish and Permit on endless flats in some of the most captivating picture perfect sceneries imaginable.
