THE FAMILY TRIP

Experience a family vacation out of the ordinary in one of the world’s most picture perfect scenery imaginable. It is not often that fly fishermen can follow their passion in company of their family while exploring some of the most beautiful islands in the world and where you live on a comfortable live-aboard charter safari dhoni, a traditional Maldivian vessel.

Hosted trips of seven to ten days for a maximum of ten people are planned to co-inside with the best tides and season. Fishing and snorkelling time is organized by detailed planning of tidal flows and travel between fishing and snorkelling areas.Depending on the season trips are planned to uninhabited islands of the northern atolls.

The Maldives comprise 26 atolls and 1192 islands between latitudes 1º S and 8º N and longitude 72º and 74º E spred in a north to south direction over a distance of 960 kilometers and have a range of different habitats including shallow coast, turtle grass flats and reef ecosystems. This offers prime habitats for the huge number of species found on these coral reefs. It is a direct reflection of the high number of habitat opportunities afforded by this environment.
The atolls are large and unique in that there are atolls within atolls and lagoons within lagoons, endless brilliant white sands and coral flats, stretching as far as the eye can see. And it is this unusual geography that produces some of the most perfect scenery you can imagine, offering exciting Flyfishing/fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities for the whole family.

This is a traditional and very comfortable safari dhoni that offers shared accommodation and excellent food, for a maximum of ten people. The boat which is ideally suited to these trips is accompanied by a speedboat that transports our guests to the various sites.

All acompanied by Dolphins and Mantarays true bliss.

Swim gallantly with sharks and rays, or you may be lucky enough to meet one of the giants of the sea, The Manta Ray, which is reasonable common here. In the area there is also a healthy population of dolphins and beautiful sea turtles, besides all the large species of fish, the reef are teeming with colorful fish such as gropers, snappers, spotted sweetlips, emperors and small reef fish (mainly Anthias) are typical reef inhabitants throughout the region. Coral growth is most abundant between about 3 and 15 m depth and is diverse in this area. There are approximately 1200 types of fish inhabiting our atoll of which many are still not scientifically described yet.

Why is this region populated by so many species?
Possibly a combination of several factors. Among the most important ones are definitely a lengthy history of favorable climatic conditions (the constant temperature of the sea), a diversity of habitat types, and a tumultuous geological and hydrological past.
In the latter category events such as sea level changes, ocean current shifts, and continental drift have created isolating barriers that greatly enhanced the speciation process.

And it is this unusual geography that produces some of the most perfect scenery you can imagine.

And as the only ones in this region we offer an unique possibility for your family to contribute to the restoration of the coral reef, by building new reefs yourself on steel frames which we establishes at the right location with living corals, which later covers the frame with living organisms and creates a new coral reef.

On the Maldives, as in many other places of the world, which has suffered from coral bleaching, it has become necessary to help recreate the diversity of marine species on the coral reef. It is possible for your family to actively participate in the reconstruction of the coral reefs in some of the most beautiful places in the world.

The Giant Trevally.

There is of course also the opportunity to go Flyfishing/fishing. And in this aspect are the trevallies, the Giant Trevally, Bluefin Trevally (Carangidae) and their relatives tunas and wahoo (Scombridae) and more rare the billfishes (Xiphiidae and Istiophoridae),which is some of ours favorites species.

Max with a Bluefin

Besides flyfishing you can experience speed and slow jigging, popping, and casting sticbait, or try traditional Maldivian bait fishing with hand lines for species such as gropers and snappers. So if you would like to try your strength with some of the strongest fish in the ocean, then we are experts.

Giant Trevally and the Bluefin Trevally are highly sought after by many anglers, especially flyfishers, who will travel to the most deserted corner of the earth to catch the fish of their lives.
